Presidents Page

Greetings to you in the name of our risen Savior Jesus Christ,

It is a very humbling thing to be entrusted this year with the responsibility of becoming the President of the Mt. Olivet Union Campmeeting Association.  I count it an honor to serve our organization and its members, and I realize my need for help and wisdom from the Lord.  I remember walking around the grounds among the Autumn leaves and praying for the work and various members who are a part of it.   When it comes to accomplishing things of eternal value, Jesus said, “Without me, ye can do nothing”. [John 15:5]

This year’s camping season is unprecedented in that our 2020 Campmeeting has been cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the complications it has introduced.  Who could have ever foreseen this but God? We know that God has a purpose and plan behind everything that He allows to take place in our world, even though we may not comprehend it.

For the believer in Christ, we know that God will work all things together for the good of those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. [Romans 8:28]

The COVID 19 epidemic has the potential to become a divisive issue.  Medical and governmental authorities as well as average citizens have divergent views on the most appropriate ways to respond to it.  This can only divide us if we allow it.  We must extend the courtesy to one another that allows others to hold an opinion that may differ from ours while we respect them as a person.  This is what I Peter 3:8 means when he tells us to “Love as brethren…and be courteous”.

The Board of Trustees will hold their annually scheduled meeting on the first Saturday [August 1st] of what was to be our week of camp in the Fellowship Hall at 10 am, and our annual Stockholder’s Meeting will be held the 2nd Saturday [August 8th] at 10 am in the Tabernacle.

We know not what tomorrow holds, but we know that the Lord our God holds tomorrow.

May God’s richest blessings be yours,

Gavin Whitcomb, Sr.

Mt. Olivet Union Campmeeting President
